Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy is a natural therapy using plant-derived hormones having identical chemical and molecular structure to ones produced by the human body. They are designed specifically for each patient in a special pharmacy and are only prescribed by your physician. Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy includes estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, thyroid and DHEA, and balancing these hormones can treat numerous conditions in the body.

Some conditions treated with bio-identical hormones include:

Perimenopause occurs four to six years before menopause, and eventually turns into menopause. During perimenopause, the body is preparing to close down its reproductive capabilities and begins to slow down its production of estrogen and progesterone. Due to this decreased production, women can experience irregular periods, dysmenorrhea, insomnia, water retention, migraines, weight gain, nervousness, fatigue, and increased PMS symptoms.

Menopause can occur for women as early as the thirties or as late as the fifties. During menopause, the ovaries have ceased adequate production of progesterone and estrogen, and the body is no longer fertile. Due to this change, women can experience a number of unpleasant symptoms, which can include hot flashes, thinning skin, vaginal dryness, night sweats, low libido, anxiety, depression, osteoporosis, and insomnia.

In men, a syndrome known as andropause usually occurs during middle age, and it is brought on by testosterone deficiencies. Around the age of 30, testosterone begins to decline at a rate of 10% each decade, and when men reach the 40’s or 50’s, testosterone takes a steep drop. While this decline is not as sudden as what occurs during female menopause, it still causes unpleasant symptoms, which can include, increased abdominal fat, night sweats, decreased workout performances, low libido, erectile dysfunction, insomnia, anxiety, depression, irritability, and muscle atrophy.

The thyroid gland is responsible for several metabolic functions, and thyroid hormone helps to synthesize proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. When the thyroid hormone is not produced in adequate amounts, men and women may begin to suffer from symptoms that include unexplained weight gain, irregular periods, an aversion to cold, hair loss, and constipation.

Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal Fatigue is usually a stress related syndrome, and it occurs when a person has experienced stress for a long period of time. This constant stress can cause the adrenal glands to release cortisol, which helps the body to counteract the effects of stress. When the demand for cortisol rises, the body may begin to convert vital sex hormones into cortisol to meet the body’s needs. This can cause an imbalance of hormones, and when this occurs, a person may experience symptoms that include fatigue, hair loss, headaches, lack of motivation, insomnia, body aches, and nervousness.

Dr. Lyn Berutti’s goal is to optimize hormone levels to help patients receive the health benefits of BHRT and improve symptoms typically associated with aging. After any hormone therapy program starts, hormone blood levels tests are conducted at scheduled intervals to determine how the patients body is responding, and for safety and accuracy.
